The Construction Status Field

Sunflower MLS heard your feedback about the lack of clarity in listings for properties under construction. In response, members from multiple regions collaborated to create a solution: the Construction Status Field. This field will be added to residential and multifamily listings on September 15, 2025.
 

Construction Status Field Lookups

  • Previously Owned – The residence is currently or was previously occupied as a dwelling.
  • Completed New Construction – The residence is ready for occupation but has not been occupied.
  • Under Construction / Spec Home – The residence is not yet ready for occupation, but construction has begun.
  • To Be Built / Floor Plan – A drawing or blueprint of a residence that may be purchased and constructed.
  • Model (For Sale) – A residence constructed as part of a sales campaign to demonstrate design, structure and appearance of a development. The model is for sale.
  • Model (Not for Sale) – A residence constructed as part of a sales campaign to demonstrate design, structure and appearance of a development. The model itself is not for sale.
 

The Construction Status Field will be a required field in the residential and multifamily classes and will replace the Approx Age field. This may require you to update your saved searches.

 

You can filter search results by property age using the Approx Year Built field. To add the field to your search criteria, click the Customize button on the search input module, select the Approx Year Built field, and click add.
