In 2007, Luke was recruited by Land Kansas Real Estate. In 2011, Luke joined Coldwell Banker American Home (CBAH) after his comparative company analysis leading to his conclusion that CBAH has the most to offer the Topeka & Lawrence communities in real estate marketing innovation and effectiveness. Luke is active within the Sunflower Association of Realtors (SAR) and community:

Luke has worked closely with mortgage companies conducting Broker Price Opinions (BPO). These BPO’s provided the opportunity to get paid to practice doing Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) and value estimation for soon to be foreclosure properties. This process helped Luke develop a methodology for determining current value for homes that require remodeling that can be illustrated and articulated for clients.


PAST PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE - Continued

 

Beginning in 2003, Luke served in the Office of Governor Kathleen Sebelius as Assistant to the Director of Board Appointments. Annually the Governor makes appointments to fill approximately 300 expiring positions on State boards and commissions (e.g. Kansas Real Estate Commission) and agency positions. Luke’s related responsibilities included upgrading and maintaining the computer database used to track the appointments/expirations and corresponding with appointees about the process. He also conducted outreach to locate interested individuals for these positions. Luke’s other responsibilities included conducting and coordinating interviews and orientations for the Governor’s Intern Program.


In November of 2005, Luke began work with the Kansas Health Policy Authority (KHPA),

the Kansas Medicaid agency. Luke served as the Manager of Government Affairs (agency lobbyist) for two legislative sessions. Luke worked directly under the Executive Director of the agency. His primary responsibilities for the agency included tracking legislation through the complex legislative process, attending and reporting on daily legislative committee meetings, writing communication to the Legislature in the form of formal testimony, providing information for inquiries made by the Kansas Legislative Research Department and individual State Legislators, and serving specific constituent needs. Luke also created the agency website and held the responsibility of keeping its information up to date.


EDUCATION & PERSONAL - Continued

 

In 2010, Luke L. Thompson graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Washburn University. He graduated in the top 20% of his class earning straight A’s throughout the program and an induction into Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society recognizing business excellence. Much of his project work was focused on residential and commercial real estate. In 2003, Luke graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Kansas.


Luke was born and raised in Topeka, KS. Luke attended Sumner Elementary, Shaner Elementary, Jardine Middle School, and Topeka High School. At Topeka High he was a member of the varsity baseball and junior varsity basketball teams.
